Frequently Asked Questions
-
I provide telehealth therapy to clients who are physically located in North Carolina, Colorado, or Tennessee at the time of their session. In-person availability can be discussed during the consultation process.
-
I accept select insurance plans through Alma and Headway. Accepted plans vary by state, platform, and individual policy. You can visit my Alma or Headway profile to check your coverage or contact me if you are unsure which option applies to you.
-
Self-pay is available for clients who do not have an accepted plan or prefer not to use insurance. Depending on your benefits, you may also be eligible for reimbursement directly from your insurance provider for out-of-network services.
-
We will discuss your concerns, history, and treatment goals before deciding on an approach. EMDR may be incorporated when appropriate, but treatment is individualized and may include a combination of trauma-informed therapy, skill-building, preparation, and reprocessing work.
-
No. EMDR does not require you to describe every detail of a distressing experience. You remain in control of what you share, and we will spend time building safety, preparation, and emotional-regulation skills before beginning trauma reprocessing.
-
No. I provide the psychotherapy component of Ketamine-Assisted EMDR and do not prescribe or administer medication. Ketamine must be prescribed by a qualified psychiatric provider who independently determines whether it is medically appropriate for you.
-
KA-EMDR begins with assessment and preparation. We will discuss your history, current needs, support system, medical provider, and treatment goals to determine whether this approach may be clinically appropriate. Not everyone will be a suitable candidate.
-
Some insurance plans may be accepted for the intake and preparation sessions, depending on the provider and your specific coverage. However, the actual Ketamine-Assisted EMDR sessions are offered as a self-pay service and are not billed through insurance. Fees for evaluation, prescribing, medication, or medical management provided by an independent psychiatric provider are separate and subject to that provider’s policies.
-
I maintain a list of psychiatric providers who serve clients in the states where I practice and can offer appropriate referral options. If those providers are not a good fit or additional support is needed, I can provide other referrals when appropriate.
